Music60s tells the stories behind the songs that shaped American music from the 1950s through the 1990s — the sessions, the arguments, the accidents and the lucky breaks that turned ordinary recordings into records people never stopped playing.
What we write about
Every article starts with a single song, album or session and works outward: who was in the room, what nearly went wrong, and what the record meant once it left the studio. We cover rock and roll, soul, Motown, girl groups, country crossovers, disco, funk, hard rock and the early years of hip-hop.
How we work
Our stories are written from published interviews, liner notes, biographies, archive press coverage and documentary footage. Where accounts of an event disagree — and with music history they often do — we say so rather than picking the most dramatic version and presenting it as settled fact.
